Last weekend was the 2010 NEMO Bridal Expo. Not only was Originals Paper Art an invitation vendor in the show, I was also a member of the Bridal Expo steering committee and the Kirksville Arts Center Bridal Expo committee! I was stretched a little thin last week. It was fun… but I’m really glad it’s over for another year. Kristina, Katie and I put together a beautiful booth for the Kirksville Arts Center. I ordered flowers and cupcakes, designed print ads and favors, and edited and recorded radio ads.

These little favors are printed on light weight vellum, adhered to skewers and curled with scissors (you know the method). They turned out really cute. My theory was the recipient would want to know what the message said and thus unroll the favor. I witnessed many unroll it which made the hours of assembly well worth it! The message read, “We have an elegant venue for your wedding celebrations in downtown Kirksville”.

Here are the cupcakes on the tiered cupcake stand in the Kirksville Arts Center booth at the NEMO Bridal Expo. Unfortunately I ordered too many cupcakes, however, I’d rather have too many than not enough.

Kristina researched chair covers, table design and floral arrangements. The round table dressed up beautifully. The most talked about feature was how the table itself was lit from below. It was stunning with the dim booth space. Many brides thought table design was a service we provided. Hmm. Sounds like an opportunity knocking… anybody there?!

Katie is a graphic designer and paper fanatic just like me! She designed the faux menus, place cards and table card to give this beautiful table a personal touch. She also designed our information card that has all the rental information. It was a terrific team effort and so much fun.

So then, in addition to sharing my party favor design and snapshot photography, I want to plug the Kirksville Arts Center as a lovely space to rent if you have an upcoming event in northeast Missouri. Call Judy at (660) 665-0500 if you have questions about the space. Be sure to tell her I sent you! Have a great day!

A quick print ad I designed for the Kirksville Arts Association that will be printed in a Student Welcome Packet for Truman State University. A great opportunity to market the KAA to thousands of students and their families!

Are your existing ads old and ready to retire? Have you been considering a new ad campaign to address the ever-changing market? Let’s discuss what you’re doing… and what you could be doing! Contact me today… before you place your fall ads!

Well… we’re moved in but I’m not ready to show-and-tell on the blog. As soon as we get the final touches taken care of… stuff on the walls, the perfect chair for the office, you now, stuff like that, I’ll share with you. Silly, I know, but that’s me!

We’ve been here for two weeks and I’m busier than ever. I know it’s not the location, it’s more like my inability to say no. I try to… and on occasion I do… but that’s how I get myself into all these CRAZY out-of-control-weeks like this week. Ugh.

Here’s a snapshot of menus and programs for a bride whose wedding is this weekend. And TODAY I’m handwriting 130 place cards for her wedding that takes place on Sunday. Never a dull moment around here!

Not to mention I’m Chair Person to the Kirksville Arts Association Membership Drive that takes place this evening. Yep, in the midst of wedding season I was the only person that could “do it”. And, again, I can’t say no. Why is this? Some are so good at it? Any advice?

These are the t-shirts and ball caps I designed for the event. They’ll be on sale tonight at the membership kick-off and ice cream social! Want one? The t-shirts are $15, ball caps $15, and if you buy the combo (tee + hat) they’re $25. I’ve mentioned it before, and will again, support your local Arts organization!

This is just the beginning of our logo wear! I would like to get artists involved in creating artwork for future shirts! So many ideas — so little time. Speaking of time… I have to run… I have place cards to write, logos to finalize, business cards to design, event signs to make, emails to return, invoicing to submit and the list goes on.

Happy Friday. Enjoy the weekend and think SUN!

The Kirksville Arts Association hosted a wine tasting event last Thursday. HyVee Wine & Spirits donated the wine and all donations will be used to pay for various expenses incurred by the New Harmonies exhibit. It was a huge success. I designed this flyer and it was used for three things… (1) a flyer we hung around town; (2) an electronic file we emailed to the membership and other networks in town; and (3) a generous ad in the Sunday paper. Hows that for more bang for your design buck!!! I can do the same for your business event! Contact me with any questions on this concept!

Here are a few of my favorite snapshots! from that evening. Enjoy! And, I can’t say it enough… please support your local Arts organization, it’s a wonderful asset to your community… and without community support, there is no art.

New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music is an exhibit currently showing at the Kirksville Arts Center by the Smithsonian Institution and Missouri Humanities Council. It’ll be there through May 2nd (I believe). If you’re within driving distance you should swing by and experience it first hand! Below is the 11×17 poster I designed to promote all the events the exhibit has to offer our community. You can also visit the Wiki site for more information.

Here are the New Harmonies Lunch and Learn tickets and Smithsonian Institute sticker you receive when visiting the exhibit.

Here are a few snapshots I captured at the Opening Reception Friday night.

Here’s the other book class I’m teaching at the Kirksville Arts Center this fall.

It has a hard bound cover and five signatures on black Stonehenge paper.
